I often use the "kiosk" mode to watch streaming video, and the "tablet" mode for reading, media consumption, etc. I found the "wireless card issues" mentioned in many online reviews to be a myth.
Perhaps I got the only good one in the country, but I never had a Wi-Fi connectivity problem at home or outside with my R7. Acer claims that the DisplayPort port on the left side is proprietary; but in reality it supports standard DisplayPort monitors.
Acer Aspire R7 review: An experimental laptop that both hits and misses - CNET
I frequently use my R7 with a 29" DisplayPort monitor at home. I am giving this 4 stars only because of the relatively short battery life. This is not a big problem for casual use, but it forces me to take my older laptop which has a hour battery life with me on business trips. I understand that the newer, Acer Aspire R7-571 Intel ME version has a much improved battery life. I liked the product it's unique concept.

Acer has admitted that the WiFi card of this piece is faulty and they were changing the card in the new ones. But as this was a Refurbished one, Acer cannot change. I had to return this product. How the solution works on a day-to-day basis and how the internal components stack up are the subjects of our review.

What makes our review model stand out is not the hardware: Acer does not specify a target user group for the Aspire RG. The TV commercial highlights both business as well as home use and emphasizes - surprise, surprise - the new hinge design.
For our review, we will follow suit and discuss the display, the hinge, and the reversed touchpad and keyboard combination in more detail, while keeping the hardware part a bit shorter. Case The chassis of the Acer Aspire R7 makes a very good initial impression. The lid has Acer Aspire R7-571 Intel ME give when twisted but is still quite resilient.
Only the bezel and the display itself are glossy, the rest of the notebook features matte surface areas. It is easy to turn the display with both hands; one-handed twisting is also possible, albeit a bit more difficult.
We can't find much to complain about: One area deserves more criticism: Unfortunately, the Acer Aspire R7-571 Intel ME is not anchored securely and has about one millimeter of play to the left and to the right. There may be long-term benefits to this setup, but I have yet to find them, or even acclimate well to the R7's touch pad. Despite a handful of attempts every year, I have yet to see a laptop that plays with touch pad placement in a successful way.
I suspect many people will find it counterintuitive.
But that's not the most perplexing thing about the R7. Despite the pitch for this system as a part-time tablet, when you fold the screen down into the tablet mode, it doesn't actually lie completely flat.
